Affiliate Conspiracy Review | Absolute Trash Unless You are New to Adwords

So, I grabbed a copy of Eric Rockefeller’s newest product, the Affiliate Conspiracy and I figured I would spend a little time on this product since I have seen a number of people throughout the forums ask about it. In case you aren’t aware of who Eric Rockefeller is, he is a self professed adwords expert and list marketer and is considered by a number of the “gurus” out there to be one of the up and coming marketers. I want to say for the record that I was unimpressed with his first big release, Rockstar Affiliate so I went into this wondering if he was going to try to make good on his various promises that he makes in his sales letter.

**Reviewer’s Note**

I want to state for the record that the reason why I am even bothering with giving this review is because if you google “affiliate conspiracy” or “affiliate conspiracy review”, you are going to see nothing but glowing reviews from affiliates trying to make a couple bucks pushing this product.

ICreating a kick ass sales page is far easier than actually being able to deliver on the promises of the sales page. In accordance to the mission statement of the marketingprojectbible, I am on the constant quest for good, sound information that will actually make marketer’s money.

t is my intent to show you exactly what you are going to get when you purchase this product with the pros and more importantly the cons.

The Headline:

“Rockstar Affiliate Milks $541,839 in Profit
From Google
and How You too can Swipe The Secrets of 3 ClickBank Cash Cow NICHES
Worth $15,673/monthly
Plus The Simple 3 Step SPF Method Used To PUMP $6228.33 From
Google Into ClickBank
In Just 6 Days on
Virtual AutoPilot…”

Yet another hyped headline that will lure many unsuspecting newbie marketers and wannabe dreamers into giving their money away, right? Perhaps. From my standpoint (and I have only been doing internet marketing for 5 short years), these kinds of promises have never delivered any returns to me, of significance at least. Still, let’s examine what Eric is giving up before we determine whether this is hype or something of substance.

To begin, I found the Affiliate Conspiracy to be a bit on the high end, price wise (it is $77). However, there is this belief that if you add video to your package then this should automatically warrant a higher price. I never understood this as most of the videos that are packaged up in these guru releases tend to be complete shit or for the newbie, except in some very rare cases. Prejudice aside, I went into the download section with few expectations.

The Affiliate Conspiracy Package-

The package itself is two e-books, three “bonus review templates” and around twenty or so instructional videos. On the front end, this looks like a ton of stuff for the price which peaked my interest slightly. After all, if someone is dropping off over 2 hours of video, there should be something there that would make the package worth the money, right? Read on….

Like I said, there were two e-books.

  1. Adwords Best Practices Guide
  2. List Relations Guide

The Adwords Best Practices Guide was nothing more than a Perry Marshall adwords clone that most intermediate adwords users would already know. Although well written, there was literally not one tip that I have either not heard before or utilized in my own adwords campaigns. One of Eric’s main bullets in his sales letter is actually taught here- Exploiting the Content Network “Rockefeller Style” as he puts it, is nothing more than his use of the content network as a way to build his list. Hardly Groundbreaking, in my opinion.

The List Relations Guide is yet another book on how to build your list and has absolutely nothing in it that would warrant the $77 (or $47) price tag…that is, unless you are absolutely new to internet marketing. Call me a little more than jaded but there is not one iona of information in this book (or the other one) that either can’t be found freely on the internet or is not in another book that could be bought for less than $20.

I will give Eric a little credit though. On one of his bullets, he does admit that the Affiliate Conspiracy would be best served by the absolute beginner….

NO Experience Needed It’s actually better if you are a newbie so you won’t have to erase what you’ve learned so far. This methodology works and all you have to do is follow along and literally copy/paste your way to profits.

However, although the books were more than a disappointment, the videos that he presents is supposedly the bread and butter of the Affiliate Conspiracy. So, I am willing to give Eric a lee-way to wriggle through. Can he deliver on his many promises that his sales letter details?

The Affiliate Conspiracy Bonus Quick Start Videos

The first set of Videos are titled “bonus quick start videos”. These videos are nothing more than a walkthrough to how to build your first blogger blog or how to build a squidoo lens, ect. To someone that has even been in the affiliate world for just a couple months, I seriously doubt that any of this could be seen as new or groundbreaking.

On a separate note, the video tutorial on Squidoo, the person speaking (who is not Eric, by the way), mentions that he is going to show you how to set up a Squidoo lens so that it gets ranked on the first page of Google. For the beginner, the author of this video makes it appear that it is as easy as setting up the onpage optimization correctly and then laughing all the way to the bank. Of course, those of us who have been around the block would know that it simply isn’t as easy as this and although I won’t go into details on how it is done, you can imagine that it entails more work than simply messing with on page SEO.

I imagine that the start up videos were simply bought up and packaged to bulk up the affiliate conspiracy a bit. After all, so far the series has proven to be a bit on the weak side and only good for the marketer who is just beginning his online marketing.

The Affiliate Conspiracy Core SPF Videos

The core videos to Eric Rockefeller’s package is supposed to be the meat and potatoes of the series so I was excited to take a look at how Eric made money online. The first video is supposed to detail how Eric finds profitable niches online. He calls it his “SPF method”. The Bullet point on his sales page reads like this:

The Insider Secret Time-Tested Method I’ve refined to almost instantly find profitable products to promote without blowing your budget. It’s a proven killer. Imagine if you knew what’s making money and what’s not.

Now, I am not going to go into detail about exactly what Eric’s methods are but I will give you the three bullets:

  1. Select Niche/Products
  2. Presell th Prospect
  3. Follow up with Email

Sound familiar? Unless you completely dripping behind the ear, marketing wise, chances are you have already are educated in this method. Now, I have to hand it to Eric….this does work. However, once again, this isn’t exactly groundbreaking stuff that will launch an internet marketing career. At best, this is list marketing 101.

The Affiliate Conspiracy ClickBank and Adwords Videos

I went ahead and lumped both of these in one column as they are the most basic tutorials on how to set up your clickbank account and the proper format for using and profiting from Adwords. Frankly, these four videos should be in the bonus quick start videos instead. If you have set up just one adwords campaign, chances are that you have been there and done that before. Subsequently, if you have promoted one clickbank product, once again, been there and done that.

The Affiliate Conspiracy Affiliate Research Tools Videos

This set of videos is supposed to be a list of different research tools that Eric uses to analyze his niches and competition with. I am guessing that this bullet from his sales page corresponds with this set of videos:

The Exact Arsenal of Push-Button Easy Tools that I use to test, track, and automate my affiliate marketing and how by using these little known secret tools you simply can’t lose.

And this one as well….

Advanced Super Spy Techniques of 2008 Almost devious ways to know what your competition is up to and how to exploit this to take over markets. (These should be made illegal, but they’re not yet.)

Now I don’t want to pick on the guy in regards to these “groundbreaking” videos but once again, they are nothing more than a tutorial on how to use research tools like spyfu, affiliate elite, keyword spy, ect…ect..And with the exception of three of the tools, all of these are paid membership tools or you have to buy the software in order to use them. Even at the intermediate level, most internet marketers use one of these tools. However, you have to wonder why on earth would anyone want to purchase these videos when there are tutorials all over the internet showing how it is done.

Now, to Eric’s credit, he never said that he was going to show you something new, per say….he was just going to show you what he uses to determine his niche selection. Now as far as his niche selection is concerned, Eric doesn’t really delve too deeply into what he looks for (most of the videos are less than 10 minutes).

From my standpoint, the fact that most of his research is done with paid tools kind of blows one of his promises out of the water….

NO Need For A Huge Budget You can start with very little start up capital and take your profits and reinvest. (You’ll be able to scale your business at rapid rates turning over your initial investment at huge gains.

Eric’s second bullet…you know…the one where he makes the statement about super spy techniques…well, let’s just say that you can get the same results by grabbing the free membership version of keyword spy and compete.

The Affiliate Conspiracy Sneaky Affiliate Technique

Possibly Eric’s “ace in the hole” for his series is this technique. The bullets in his sales letter that corresponds with this are here:

Blackhat Direct Linking on Steroids you’ve most likely never heard of or seen before. You’ll be able to directly link to sales pages without getting slapped by Google. (Use at your own discretion.)

And here…

Discover the 1% of Advanced Adwords Tricks hidden from 99% of Google’s users. Game the system with super relevant, dirt cheap clicksForget everything you thought you knew about CTR, Ad positioning and quality score.

Now I am going to state for the record that I have never heard of this technique before. What it basically shows is how to essentially game google into not thinking that you are direct linking to an affiliate landing page. What this does is lowers your pay-per-click because Google doesn’t penalize your campaign (google hates it when affiliates direct link to a sales page and will make you pay when you do).

The technique involves masking your domain using godaddy’s redirect and masking options. I haven’t tried this out yet but I imagine that it works and this is probably the one shining light that I found in the entire series. Now is this worth the $77? Well, that depends on what you are spending right now and what you are paying per click.

The Affiliate Conspiracy Niche Videos

Peek Into My Personal Profitable Campaigns by literally watching over my shoulder as I go through step-by-step screen capture videos talking you through these actual campaigns from start to finish. Absolutely nothing held back!

In this set of videos, Eric takes you through how he sets-up his campaigns by giving you three real world examples. I found these videos interesting because it is always good to see what is going through the head of another marketer and their approach to selecting niches. However, that said, most of the information that Eric divulges is not going to turn a newbie into a internet marketing guru overnight. There is simply too much to learn and watching three sets of videos aren’t going to give a new marketer that “eureka” moment.

Still, to Eric’s credit, he does give a good amount of information to the beginner or intermediate marketer as to how to correctly set up a new adwords campaign.

The Final word on the Affiliate Conspiracy

Once again, another guru makes extraordinary claims and fails to deliver on them. What has surprised me is that Eric under delivers for the second product in a row. The Affiliate Conspiracy may be worth something to the absolute beginner but for anyone who has done internet marketing for even a limited amount of time, chances are that they are going to be disappointed in the results. Worse yet, for the beginner just starting out, the Affiliate Conspiracy gives the false pretense that making money online is much easier than it actually is. Save your money. Just as Eric implies in his sales letter, the Affiliate Conspiracy is best left to the person who is entertaining the notion of internet marketing, not the ones that are actually doing it.

I completely agree!! About time someone exposed this for what it really is, rubbish!! I wouldn’t mind but most of the reviews available are from people who haven’t even seen the product, simple sales page re-wrtites. I wonder if they would give such glowing reports if they actually spent $77.00 on learning how to set up squidoo, blogger, wordpress etc? Not to mention watching rockefeller set up adwords campaigns.
Keep money in pocket is my advice!
